FAQ

So you noticed that I don't offer 5x7, 8x10 or 11x14 prints. I know, it seems odd but let me explain.

First, the most common photo sizes are completely different aspect ratios: 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 11x14. The cameras that I use shoot in a 2x3 aspect ratio. So, to simplify, right out of the camera the photos are perfect for prints in the sizes: 4x6, 8x12, 10x15 and so on.

I am very fond of the look of the 2x3 ratio and this is how I prefer to create photos. When I have to crop a single photo for all of the standard sizes, I have to make a decision on what part of the photo to throw away. I don't like making that decision.

I create photos to look their best...for you to look your best. I make those decisions while I shoot and throwing that away just to match an old standard format makes no sense to me.

Now, all of that said, if you have specific ideas about your prints, let me know. We can discuss all of your options whether it be print, canvas or otherwise!

I get this question from almost every client. This is a version of my normal response.

First and foremost, be comfortable. I don't mean show up in your pajamas, obviously. Just don't wear something that you will fuss with during the whole shoot. Your face will show that your mind is preoccupied.

I usually say to wear solids or simple patterns. But, I have had complex patterns make great photos. So the real thing to keep in mind is that you don't want to wear something that you wouldn't want to see yourself wearing in two or three years. I am mainly thinking of graphic prints or text on shirts with this one.

For couples, keep everything above in mind. In addition, you don't want to clash with each other. Another issue is too much contrast between the couple. Like one person in very bright clothing and the other in very dark clothing. I know, you're first thought is, "but that is exactly what happens at a wedding!" And you would be right, keep in mind that these aren't really rules. I is just something that can throw you in a direction if you just have no idea what to wear at all. There are plenty of great photos that do exactly the opposite of everything I've written.

Hope that helps a little and feel free to ask me specific questions if you have any.
