Blayne, Like I said on Twitter: I’m bummed that I didn’t get picked but you represented “Us Dudes” pretty well. (Maybe my video was too far!)

I used to hold back on asking a model or client to pose just to avoid “looking like a perv” but then I found that I was missing moments and missing badass shots because I couldn’t tell them what would look the best for the shoot. Instead of looking like a GWC I just looked like I didn’t know what I was doing. No Bueno.

In any case, I totally understand the CL-Student Hangover. Since I was a student in Zack’s class, I totally understand what you’re feeling. I didn’t shoot anything for weeks after I got back. I didn’t want to pick up the camera and put myself back into bad habits. I spent time thinking about the direction I wanted to go in and simply mulled it over carefully. I feel that I’ve grown a ton since then just because I have a better idea of where I’m going. I urge you to take a moment to think about where you’d like to go and then go in, guns blazing.

Finally, I was serious about trading portfolios and using the buddy system to get better. I’ve been able to bounce ideas off of the other students from my class with Zack, The Sacred Six… It’s been exponentially helpful to have someone you trust see your photos and see what you’re working on. You can fail in front of them and they’re just supportive of you no matter what.

Blayne, meeting you was absolutely great. I think you are a caring person, intense and passionate on the inside, shy and reserved on the outside.
What I told you face-to-face remains the same: bring all the confidence you have and trust yourself! You are a Good person and a Good photographer, and this is everything you need to step up your game, doing what you love to do. Don’t let ANYONE tell you differently.

B – You are the exception to the rule. You aren’t like the people who just watch CreativeLive or the people who anonymously chat. They aren’t brave enough to step up, submit a video and do it for themselves. For whatever conveinient reasons, they can’t leave their parent’s basement or get out of their pajamas to show up. I’m talking about the 99% of the CreativeLive audience who are awesome, just the 1% who don’t get it. Few would or could do what you have done. I have total respect for all the CreativeLive students. All the CL people, volunteers, John Boy are just incredible. For all of us who would not (could not) do it, please just enjoy your time as a CL student, create a deep foothold, and push forward. You will be great!

I will tell you something that I tell my kiddos every day — You can’t talk rational to irrational people.” Just with the internet you come across 1,000 people all at the same time. You don’t conduct yourself in that way and be proud of it. You are an awesome awesome person and all of us were so blessed to have been put together at this moment in our lives. Thanks for saying what creativeLIVE means to many of us. It is life changing. Folks watching can only begin to imagine the effects on everyone there from each other. This was one of the more emotional classes, along with Penny De Los Santos, but all touch everyone involved in many ways. I look forward to watching your ride and hope to be part of it again. John Cornicello is THE MAN! We don’t know what we’d do without him! B – yhank you for being such an integral part of Christa’s workshop. Each of you sexy 6 pack brought something unique to the experience. You helped people around the world look very deep at themselves. What a gift!
